Press Release
Long Beach Rocky Horror Cast Goes in New Directions
August 5th, 2012
Long Beach Rocky Horror Cast

To All Who May Be Concerned:

As you might already know, our cast was founded in 1988 at the Balboa Theater in Newport Beach, California. Within a few short years, viewership of the show rose dramatically, and the cast chose the name “Midnight Insanity”. Shortly thereafter, the cast took residence at the Art Theater in Long Beach, where we remained for almost 15 years before moving to three different venues while the Art went through a large, multi-year refurbishment. As of September of 2011, we have once again taken up permanent residence at the Art Theater.

With time comes waves of change, and we feel it is time for our cast to move in a “nude-irection”. Now that we are settled back in at the Art Theater in Long Beach, it is time to rebrand, redesign, and re-imagine the Rocky Horror experience. We will no longer be performing under the name “Midnight Insanity”, and will simply be known as the “The Long Beach Rocky Horror Cast”.

While we transition to a new name, we feel that our history as a cast is very important, and it is very near and dear to our black little hearts. We have the support of over 400 former cast members who come out to support our birthday show every January. We are the cast that was started by a fantastic group of visionaries at the Balboa Theater. We are the cast that opened at the Art Theater a few years later. We are the cast that moved to the Queen Mary while the Art Theater went through refurbishments. We are the cast that performed at the Warner Grand Theater in San Pedro, and we are the cast that performed to sold-out audiences at the Regency Theater in Santa Ana.

Our cast has had the opportunity to perform at the Hollywood Bowl and on The Drew Carey show, as well as for many private parties. Several of our current performers were featured on the Rocky Horror Picture Show Blu-Ray bonus feature, picture-in-picture show.

While we go through this change to our new public identity, we want to stress that nothing has changed on our cast. We are the same performers, tech, and operations team that has brought Rocky Horror from the South Bay to the OC for the last two decades. We will be bringing you our traditional “School Girl Lingerie Night” at the end of September, and our birthday show in mid-January.

We would like to thank our sister casts in Southern California, Arizona, and beyond for supporting us as we continue our permanent, weekly run at the Art Theater in Long Beach, California for many, sexy years to come.
