I just wanted to say thanks so much for everyone who came to David "Babyface"'s memorial last night. For once we had no script. No plan. We just followed our hearts. There is no way to minimize the tragedy of David being cut down at such a young age. I don't think any memorial or anything will ever take away the pain we all feel. But it was nice to at least share. It was great to see Rocky family that had been away for a long time. It was great to see people he knew from other places or clubs come and pay tribute to his memory. Thanks to all those who got up and shared. The stories were enlightening, inspiring, uplifting and some were just god damned funny. To those who would have liked to get up and speak...don't feel bad. It was enough that you were there and that we could all look around and say "look at how he touched each of these people in one way or another." Your body present was as important as any words that were spoken. Thank you again to the Art Theater who have made everything possible for us in the last ten years...without them we would have never known "Face" (as his friends called him casually.) We appreciate Diego staying late, and the MI tech crew for setting up and breaking down so we could have a little gathering. Thanks to Bill the ever thoughtful one for bringing the pastries. Thanks to those who brought thoughts or candles or trinkets to share for his memorial. And thanks to Steve for making the Throne years ago..or we would not have had an appropriate place to display David's picture. The comments made before the show a couple weeks back and the entire memorial last night are on video. I will be glad to make a copy for anyone who wants one..just bring me a blank labeled tape and I will make it for you. Of course it was dark and some people spoke softly but the candles and the shrine looked beautiful..and the people who spoke are dimly lit as they should be. Sometimes you have to play with the volume to hear them. But for the most part you can make out all of what is said. Babyface is our Fan of the Month for August 2002 so anytime you want to visit him, or read some of the notes people left by the throne, that is where it will be as long as MI is around to have a website. We will never forget. Finally, Thank you David for sharing your light and your all too brief life with us....and thank you to those who were in attendance for being there. And thank you to all those who could not be there but sent their best wishes. The MI Family..the Rocky Family..and the Long Beach family...have suffered a major loss. David was a good one. We will do our best to honor him in our thoughts, some of us in our prayers, and all of us in our memories. I would like to think that I am a better person for having known David. Judging by the outpouring of sincerity last night...I am not alone. Everyone he knew was better for having been touched by Babyface. |

We met it seems some time ago....... You look at me needing me so. But in our saddest happiness growed and I found out I needed you too. I remember how we use to play. I recall thoughs rainy days. The fire glowed that keep us warm and now I find were both alone. Goodby is not forever. farewell is not the end. Cause in my Heart the memory and there you'll always be.
