Hello brothers and sisters,
I regret to inform everyone that the mini-convention scheduled for late
September in Allentown, PA has been cancelled. There are no plans to
re-schedule it.
To avoid confusion and leave everyone in the community confused, let me
explain
why we have chosen to cancel.
First, and most importantly, the Orlando convention committee announced their
con back in October and since then they have come much much farther in their
planning than we have. We had intended to put on a mini-con that would be a
bit larger than the past two "Rocky-Palooza" events that were recently held in
Allentown.
Second, last night we lost the assistance of Bill "Godfather" Brennan, whose
experience we were hoping to utilize in putting on a great weekend. Also,
Lauri and Cosmo are expecting a little one around the time we had planned to
hold the mini-con which not only would have limited their planning involvement,
but Lauri would not have been able to attend.
It would just not be fair for us to put all of our fellow Rocky Horror brothers
and sisters in the position where they have to choose which event to go to. A
small mini-con in Allentown or a great weekend in beautiful Orlando. It would
also not be fair to the Orlando committee. It's silly to ask everyone to
consider choosing Allentown over Orlando. Larry and company have come much
farther in their planning than we have and there is no need for two Rocky
Horror conventions in two weeks. There is such dedication in this community
that no doubt there would be people who would try to attend both, and who can
afford the money and time with only a few months notice?
I have no doubt in my mind that the Orlando committee are working hard to see
that a splendid time be guaranteed for all. I personally apologize if this has
disappointed anyone who may already have been planning a weekend in Allentown.
Well, first and foremost, there will be a convention in Orlando in early
October. All us sorry losers who couldn't attend FGTH will be paid off with a
great time down in Florida. Cosmo's Factory and Sanity For Today have NOT
given up on convention plans, we will be working on putting on a convention in
the future, but with all the congestion on the calendar with future cons, we
are nowhere near figuring out when it will be. Stop by
